SO, I almost always scrap 12x12 but I have a bunch of smaller albums....8.5 x 11. I've been just keeping those empty but am now thinking that I need to use them or give them away. I organize my albums by year and realized that I don't have any layouts yet for certain years. I'm thinking of using those 8.5 x 11 albums to scrap certain years, just to use them up.
Does anyone else do this?? Switch up album sizes? Or do you all use only 12x12 albums and either get rid of smaller ones or only use them for theme or gift albums? I had sort of planned originally to use these smaller albums for trips...but then I forgot about my plan and scrapped photos of those trips in 12 x 12 format...so there goes that idea!

I use 12x12 for my yearly books and 8x8 at times for theme/event books although I much prefer the larger size. I have never done 8.5x11 because I don't like that it is not symmetrical!

I use only 12x12 and so album with same size. Then I create mini-album with differents sizes, of course no need of album as I make the cover....

All of my albums are 12x12 3-rings and I scrap all 12x12. But within the past year or so, I've been seeing many more 8 1/2 x 11 pages or similar. I keep saying I want to make some, but when I sit down to scrap, it always ends up being 12x12. I would need to make a conscious effort to scrap a different size. But if and when I do get around to doing it, I will just mix the different size pages in with the 12x12 ones in chrono order, however they fall.

I started out with the 8.5 x 11 size because that was all that was available way back then!! It was actually hard for me to switch to 12x12 because it felt like there was too much space to fill, but now I'm so used to that size it feels weird to scrap a different sized page. I kind of like the 8.5 x 11 landscape orientation more than the original portrait orientation because it makes for a more interesting design but the albums I have are the standard upright ones. :(

Oh! How do you make the cover of the album? Is this only for mini-albums or all your albums? How do you bind them?

You know, I've been suddenly seeing more 8.5 x 11 pages here and there as well. I have read that many scrapbook magazines feature 8.5 x 11 pages because they fit more easily on their magazine pages. I think you would love 8.5 x 11 landscape orientations Michelle. I did that for my daughter's wedding guest book photos and really like the way it looks...(more than the upright 8.5 x 11 orientation).

I would prefer not to have to scrap 8.5 x 11 but I have all these albums in that size that I need to use somehow. Funny how you get used to a certain size so quickly!

I use thick cardstock, and I make holes to put the rings. Or so I take the carton I tore a little and I'm getting older with inks, I'm just finishing an album for Anthony with this type of cover.
